...but here are some photos I took over Christmas and the New Year of the snow around our house. They are on my facebook page, and I've made them available for everyone to see, should you wish to do so. *g*

OOC is blasphemy, canon is everything. Once you fall in love with a movie, book or TV series, you are loyal like an old dog. You take fanfiction quite seriously and use it as a substitute after the canon runs out. You are probably a walking dictionary of your favourite fandom and you are picky about what you write and read. The closer to the "real thing" fanfiction is, the more you like it. You'd rather explore a character in all depth, see new sides and learn more about them than create new characters or mix up the situations they are in.

Except for this question:
Shonen-ai, Lolicon, Mpreg, Slash and such are...
Words that don't make much sense to me.
Exactly my kind of thing.
A shame for any fandom.
Not my thing, but to each their own.
e) Nothing to do with each other and certainly not to be lumped together! Slash is slash, I do not like mpreg and I have no idea what the other two things are. Gaaargh for stereotypes, even in what I always think of as a stereotype-aware world! Also "seriously"! Adverbial endings, please!
But hee - Totally true answer for me, apart from that...
Writing - I'm supposed to be writing...

Finally it's true, we have snow too! Not very pretty, from my window right now, but snoooow! *vbg*
Now if I could just get some peace and quiet to finish the fic I'm writing for my day at
Hmmn - snow's already going off a bit... small flakes now, not as close to the window... come back!

I know we are all caught up in Poirot, especially Sir Charles, at the moment, but this is from twenty years ago and we see a very different Martin. Don't know what was wrong with this play, but it is never mentioned in write-ups about his stage career. Did anyone here go to see it?
It was filmed while he was on stage at the Lyric Theatre, and seems to be part of a documentary about a theatre critic writing for a newspaper. The pics are rather dark, but suppose stage lighting and make-up don't transfer very well onto film.

Yes!! YES!!
finally - after teasing us with their laughable 'possible Light Snow Showers' for the last two days - finally we get some of the white stuff!
In fact, quite a lot of the white stuff. Take that, Met Office! *bg*
Mr Gerbil had to go out with a long broom and brush the snow off the satellite dish about half an hour ago because we'd lost the signal!!
And it's still going strong, if not quite as heavy as it was...
about two inches so far, I think, and hopefully more to come.
Yay!!

Snoow!
can you tell that I'm not working tomorrow? *g*

Greenheart has made a perfectly lovely vid of Martin in Poirot. She couldn't put it on YouTube as they rejected the song she used, so it is on her new 4shared account.
It is best to download it, as if watched on that page, the ratio is wrong. Of course, if you haven't yet seen the film, there will be spoilers in the vid.

So I'm supposed to be writing the end of my NaNoWriMo so that I can post it for
discoveredinalj on the 6th January - that's in just two days! One really! And I get home and I've been writing on the bus, and I'm all set to go, and I spend a little time with Little Girl while I'm cooking, and all is good, and I'm gonna be write-y...
...and in rushes Landlady to tell us that the house at the end of our row was burgled this morning. That's the third house in our village! Gaaargh! So now, am I write-y? No! I'm worried! Cos the bastards hit the houses of two elderly people first, who were in hospital before Christmas! And then they've waited until the first day everyone's back at work, and they've gone into someone else's house - someone who had actually just nipped out for a couple of hours. Two people - our next door neighbour bloke, and Landlady - heard them do it too - heard banging and then smashed glass. So here's another question - why does no one ever do anything when they hear things like that?! On the phone, immediately - there's a burglary in progress at... But no, we all think... oooh... dunno...
And of course there's nothing I can do - I can't stay home...landlady can't stay home (unless it turns out the schools are closed for snow, but they're not forecasting that until Wednesday now) - and it apparently didn't matter that people a few houses down were home anyway, they still went for the empty one! They're watching...
Waaaah - I can't afford to have anything stolen... The only thing I can think to do is take all my computer-y stuff to work and leave it there for a while... Not that it's much, but it'd be pricey to replace... extra dvd drive, hardrive backup, webcam... Laptop and camera to come with me, of course... Presumbly they'd never guess the value of my zines... (Oh I hope they're not that savvy...) But... waaah!
a
And we probably won't even be burgled, cos maybe everyone'll be on heightened alert, but... now I can't write! Gaaaargh!

The end of 2009 was a bit of a poor one, what with both kids catching chicken pox and both being terribly covered in the scabs, poor sods. Also, me suffering from laryngitis and having to have some time off sick from work.
However, 2010 is here. Time to blow the cobwebs off and start a brand new year. And, particularly from a footballing point of view, it's got off to a very VERY good start indeed.
MAN URE 0 LEEDS UNITED 1!!!!!
Yep, we beat them at Old Scumford with a Beckford Beauty. Oh how long we have waited for this sweet, sweet victory. And we played bloody fantastic too. Even better, the Scum-Infested Media are talking about Leeds in NICE terms without trotting out the usual 'dirty Leeds' crap. Grayson is absolutely brilliant and has got us winning. He's only lost 8 games out of the 60 he's been in charge - a tremendous rate.
So yeah, even though the FA Cup doesnt mean a jot to us - promotion is our absolute top priority - it's a nice moneyspinner and yesterday's result meant so much to our fans.

There's no doubt about Huw, he just has to be in the centre of everything. Although he was not in this episode very much, he still made his presence felt.

Turns out I actually took a picture of a blue moon on New Year's eve - I was paying no attention at all, but this is the second full moon in December, which only happens about once every two and a half years - huh! Thank you
snailbones for reminding me to check out the Astronomy Pic of the Day.
Speaking of which - Planetary Systems Now Forming in Orion!
Baby us-es!
In other news - why can't I write today?! I mean, I am, and I've done 2000 words, but I need to do at least a thousand more today, and my writey-brain is all reluctant... It just wants to do other things (although I don't know what, exactly... Is there even anything good on telly, tonight?) I'm all disturbed by what was actually a rather daft dream last night, to do with a bank that wouldn't give me change without me proving who I was with my passport, or something... It wasn't even my bank! But there was one of those intense, worried atmospheres to it, you know? *shudders* And today I'm all restless, and I should probably have gone for a walk or something, but instead I stayed in my pyjamas until late and tried to write. *sighs* Maybe I'll watch Lady in the Water and try to spook myself out of it - although I have a strange feeling that might just make things worse... *headdesk* Stoopid day. And I want it to be much, much nicer to my friends, too! Stoopid day.

Just cross posing a couple of new fics, both up at

picfor1000, I do - but how is it that I keep getting American-flavoured prompts! When my fandom is 1970s UK! (Okay, I know they don't know that, it's just... the universe laughing!) Right, I can do this... good thing I'm into older lads right now... *g*
Also - DW! It was fun! It was melodramatic! It was a wee bit Star Wars-y - I loved it! I don't care that we don't have every end tied up, that the evil Timelord/s came out of nowhere, that not everything was a logical progression from another episode written 27 years ago where it was mentioned once - that's not what stories are! You find me a story that is supposed to logically and very specifically explain the world, and I'll concede you a point, but that's not what stories are for! Even parables and instructional tales are told to get big ideas across, to make people feel and empathise and understand, rather than the detail of how to make a harpoon head or explain how a family tree came to be, or specifically why someone was murdered - that's what non-fiction is for... /rant. Sorry, I'm predicting fandomwankery, based on previous form... Ye gads but I love Pros fandom, I really do!
( That said - DW Spring 2010 preview vid under here! Just cos it's fun to watch... *g* )
