Well, finally, in the nick of time, by the skin of my teeth, and with sleepsy eyes and not much snow - but extra added pretentious titling! - a wee little something that has taken me a while to write...

Who Caught and Sang the Sun
by Slantedlight

Yes, it's my NaNoWriMo fic, and truth be told it probably shouldn't technically be considered finished, because although I have to thank both [info]angel_ci5 and [info]magenta_blue for beta comments and generally not killing me when it probably would have been quite understandable, neither of them have seen either the end, or this whole version, and not even I've read it from Word One to Word Sixty Three Thousand, Five Hundred and Twelve all at once, so... there could be anything going on in there. I have read various combinations and variations on all those 63,512 words, just... not all one after another. Yes, it's rush-to-post syndrome... So do feel free to let me know if you spot anything a bit off, and I may or may not agree with you, and may or may not change it, but I'll thank you anyway! *g*

Here's a bigfont version for my friend with the Kindle-pdf-font-size issues - let me know if this is any improvement!
Who Caught and Sang the Sun - bigfont

And finally - if anyone would prefer it up over at Automatic Hatstand, do let me know and I'll post it there tomorrow. I just had to be speedy tonight - there are only 8 minutes of my day left..!

H/C Video - Lew and Martin

  • 6th Jan, 2010 at 10:30 PM
I had this urge to do a H/C video of the boys - no matter how many miles apart they are, they still connect when they are in trouble. (Oh, and someone just asked me if it was a slash video. I'd say....yeah....probably!)

The best version is here on my 4shared account:

http://www.4shared.com/file/190002847/82c366ec/Warship.html

And the slightly bargain basement version is here on You Tube - they bounced my first attempt.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smqLJrEP3q4

Thanks to London Ronnie, Jaicen and Daybreak Angel for helping me with technical problems on Warship.
This is really by way of being a squee and a yeay, and in the hope that as many Pros-y people will see it as possible (and it's nothing to do with me really, except for the sound of happiness over in this corner.. *g*)

[info]recycledmedia is a Pros slash fan of old, who was making Pros vids long, long before I came along - in fact they were mostly unavailable by then (about 2005) except perhaps on video. Then she posted a few to her lj as a sort of Christmas present for her flist, and I downloaded some of them - and ohhhh!

I fell totally in love with Not A Day Goes By, which almost made me cry and Where Are You Now?, and hee for Monkey in the Middle, and I was a wee bit haunted by Saints and Angels, and...

...and now they're available to be downloaded again!

These are 10 vids that may be new to you (and some will be new to me, so I'm looking forward to downloading those too...), found at the link above:
Because You Love Me
Burn
If Heaven
Missing
Monkey in the Middle
My Last Breath
Not a Day Goes By
Saints and Angels
Where Are You Now? (Media West 2004 1st Single fandom slash)
You Don't
You Made Me That Way

And do leave a quick thank you to let her know you've been to visit and/or download - this is another of our Pros-y and great grandmothers! Thank you [info]recycledmedia! *vbg*

Davina in the Radio Times

  • 6th Jan, 2010 at 1:38 PM
Davina McCall is being interviewed in this week's Radio Times.

She was asked:

"Which TV personality was different from how you expected."

And her reply was:

"The actor Martin Shaw was supposed to be quite a private chap, so when I interviewed him I thought he was going to be quite austere, but he was utterly lovely."

Awwww, bless...

Other Peoples Money 1990

  • 6th Jan, 2010 at 11:26 AM
Twenty years ago MS was on stage at the Lyric Theatre in Other Peoples Money, a very different Martin from Sir Charles, who we have just seen in Poirot.

I have done some screencaps, which can be found here on my LJ.

Warship Plea!

  • 5th Jan, 2010 at 9:06 PM
I realise I could be on a Hiding To Nothing here, but does anyone have a fairly good copy of the Warship episode that Lew appeared in - Away Seaboat's Crew? Please? Pretty please?!

I've downloaded the copy available on the NPPW but I'm trying to nick bits of it to make up a fan video and there's something corrupt about the image because it only fills half the screen. I wondered if anyone had uploaded it to a 4shared account, or saved it to a DVD that they could copy for me?

I would be so grateful. Keeping fingers crossed. Thanks guys.
Songvids are a bit like buses, aren't they? You wait ages for one, then two come along together…

So, following hard on the heels of my first ever songvid comes… my second ever songvid!

My first offering for today, and it's something of a new departure for me - my first ever songvid!

For years I've thought that this song would be great for a slashy songvid, and I finally decided to have a bash at it myself.

Here it is then...

A Professionals Songvid

  • 5th Jan, 2010 at 9:01 AM
I was experimenting with moving footage to stills something that makes a nice impact on a vid, specially with our lads. Song by Toni Collette

If you find yourself at the crossroads of insomnia and insanity, this is the place to channel those demons that keep you sleepless. Vivid pictures, poetry, ruminations, and confessions from the nether hours between dusk and dawn. Originally formed to celebrate the city at night, there's a strong urban theme.

Self-described as "a little community with a lot of rage," you can soak up impassioned vibes and read blistering exposes detailing sexist attitudes in the news, pop culture, and science! A must-join community if you are, or love, a feminist. (NB: the topic of whether a "man" can be a feminist is outside the scope of this spotlight, but will probably wind up on the Writer's Block.)

Who Dares Wins Special Edition

  • 4th Jan, 2010 at 10:12 PM
Fan power is a wonderful thing! As you may know I have been having discussions for a couple of months with Arrow Films about the forthcoming DVD and BluRay release, and they had asked me what sort of extras Lew's fans might like to see. I made a couple of suggestions to them, and I've just heard that they have managed to secure the licence for one of my suggestions and it will be included in the release!

An official announcement is yet to be made of the finalised extras as they are still trying to secure one more, but isn't it great to know that companies like this actually bother about what fans want, and will strive to obtain it for them!
